Longest professional baseball game



The Pawtucket Red Sox and the Rochester Red Wings, two teams from the Triple-A International League, played the longest game in professional baseball history. It lasted 33 innings, with 8 hours and 25 minutes of playing time. 32 innings were played April 18/19, 1981, at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and the final 33rd inning was played June 23, 1981. Pawtucket won the game, 3–2.

Mighty Monsanto: Veteran cartoonist fired for pro-farmer, anti-Big Ag piece



A veteran newspaper cartoonist was fired from a local newspaper in the cornbelt state of Iowa, for a piece criticizing Monsanto and other Big Agriculture companies. Rick Friday had been working for Farm News for more than 20 years before Big Ag stepped in to suppress freedom of the press.

The cartoon in question was published on April 29 and shows one farmer saying, “I wish there was more profit in farming,” while the other one says, “There is. In year 2015 the CEOs of Monsanto, Dupont, Pioneer and John Deere combined made more money than 2129 Iowa farmers.”

O.J. Simpson granted parole: 'I've done my time'



Simpson has served nine years of a nine-to-33-year sentence for an armed robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas. He is expected to be released as early as October -- and said he plans to move to his home in Florida.

Linkin Parker singer Chester Bennington died on Chris Cornell's birthday



Linkin Parker singer Chester Bennington has died on what would have been Chris Cornell’s 53rd birthday.

The Soundgarden singer hanged himself on May 18, and now Bennington's death is also being investigated as a possible suicide, as TMZ reports he hanged himself, too.

The two performers were close friends and even toured together in 2007 and 2008. Bennington joined Cornell for a version of Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike,” and Cornell performed alongside Linkin Park for their 2000 hit “Crawling.”
